At this price point you are unlikely to find a better midi keyboard. It’s obviously not a performance instrument but is more than adequate for messing around on a PC. The arpeggiator is a great addition, something not always found on budget controllers. The velocity sensitivity is not great but this is a cheap keyboard, you can’t have everything. Some people seem to have problems setting it up; for Windows 7 users it’s a doddle just plug it in, open your music software, select it as your midi input and away you go.

This may be great for the price. The serious design fault I encountered, as I am sure have others, is that the USB connector to the keyboard is in a vulnerable position and in no time with the weight of the capacitor and normal movement to and from the work surface the cable connection and the socket break up and leaving you with a non-functional keyboard.

Since I first issued the review, I got a replacement by kind courtesy of JB’s the merchant and I taped the connector and anchored it to the corner of the keyboard with insulation tape. So I am happy to upgrade my rating because of good backup and the fact that the keyboard works well otherwise.

Good product – how to fix Windows 7 problems., 23 Sep 2010

Good purchase but can be a problem for Windows 7 users. Not an issue if you know why it won’t work with music production software though, so I’ll explain for you. If the lights are on but it doesn’t recognise it with your software, you may need to disable your webcam in “Device manager>imageing devices” (if it’s an inbuilt camera). I had to contact the company to find this out.
